He who fails to plan, plans to fail

I had a great week of workouts.

  • Monday: 45 minute tempo run. I did 4 miles in 38 minutes. The tempo run is the biggest struggle for me at this point.
  • Tuesday: 20 minutes on the bike; Stage 1, Workout B of NROLW. Completed.
  • Wednesday: 5-6 mile run. Completed a 5 mile a.m. run. Garmin acted up at the end so I’m no sure what my time was.
  • Thursday: Elliptical or bike warm-up; Stage 1, Workout A of NROLW. Completed.
  • Friday: 3 easy miles. Skipped.
  • Saturday: rest.
  • Sunday: 10-11 mile run. Did 9.4 miles on the dreadmill. My IT bands were really sore during the run. I ended up buying a foam roller this afternoon to try to take care of this problem.

So I’m now less than 2 weeks from the half marathon. Here’s the plan for the week:

  • Monday: NROLW, Stage 1, Workout B
  • Tuesday: 10 x 400 intervals.
  • Wednesday: NROLW, Stage 1, Workout A
  • Thursday: 5 miles
  • Friday: Run with Nicole
  • Saturday: Spotlight on Nursing 10k
  • Sunday: Rest or a bike ride.

I thought I hit publish last night but apparently I didn’t — oops!  In other planning news, I’m really starting to think about what I’m going to do in the “off-season”.  I have the following goals for the off season: increase my running speed and focus on my freestyle stroke. I have two early season goals: (1) sub-2 hour Mini Marathon and (2) swim freestle the entire first triathlon (whenever that may be).  With those goals in mind, any advice???
