Web Wednesday

Today, my focus is going to be the three blogs that inspired me and I have been reading religiously for nearly a year now:

  • Healthy Tipping Point: Caitlin is a runner, vegetarian, and all out foodie. She’s about to announce three big things tomorrow and I absolutely can’t wait. She has struggled with knee problems and offers great advice to other runners with similar problems. She also started an amazing project called Operation Beautiful.
  • The Inner Workings of a College Graduate: Meghann is also a runner and she is super fast! I only can dream about being as fast as her. She also has the most creative food ideas. Not sure that I personally would ever try some of her creations, but let me tell you she is not afraid to try something new/different/strange sounding. Meghann also happens to be Caitlin’s friend. It’s fun to read their posts when they attend the same event or run the same race because the two perspectives are interesting to read and compare.
  • Roni’s Weigh: Roni is a huge inspiration to me because she lost about 75 pounds and started about the same point I did. She also picked up running along the way and is training for a marathon right now. I also like her spinoff site, Green Lite Bites.

Thanks to MizFit’s link to Steve’s blog today I’d also like to point you to a great challenge that starts today: The Hot 100. Frankly, I’m not interested in the prize that he’s offering (peppers), but I’m sure some of you would love them. I’m more interested in this challenge because I want to make the most out of the last 100 days of 2009 (that’s where the name of the blog comes from).  Here are my goals for The Hot 100:

  1. Lose 15 pounds. That’s an average of about a pound a week. I will weigh in for the first time on Friday as part of my Fit Friday posts.
  2. Limit eating out, both at lunch and at dinner. There is also a direct correlation to this goal and goal number 3.
  3. Work on cleaning up diet – less process, more fruits and veggies.
  4. Follow my budget and get out of debt (…commercial debt that is. I’d have to win the lottery to pay off my student loans in the next decade).

Totally forgot my EatRunLitigate segment yesterday, but trust me you didn’t miss anything — M and I went to dinner at my friend Z’s house (it was fantastic as expected) and because of that I didn’t work out.

Eat: Did fantastic today. Had risotto leftover for lunch and made lasagna for the first time tonight. More on the lasagna next Monday but it will definitely be my lunch for the next few days.

Run: Planned 5 miles tonight. As I was getting ready to head out I discovered my Garmin was dead (oops!). So I grabbed my cheap watch and shot for 50 minutes instead. I think I did right at 5 miles, but I can’t be sure since Google Maps doesn’t find M’s our house so therefore neither does Gmaps Pedometer. Oh well. Run felt great.

Litigate: Apparently Google Books is going to rework the current settlement they have so that the DOJ doesn’t get involved in the mess I mentioned on Monday.

  • Thanks for the link! I knew the prize wouldn’t be for everyone, but it was the best thing I could think of to offer. I love that your goals are not just health related. The others are important too!
