Posting Schedule

So with the roll out of the new blog I thought I would revamp how I blogged generally. My blogging has never been consistent in terms of form, but the last 9 months+ of blogging has taught me a few things about my blogging habits.

  1. I am not a good food blogger. I don’t remember to take pictures of my food and I don’t eat enough variety for anyone to care about what I’m eating. I happen to LOVE a lot of food bloggers and I don’t think that that niche is in need of a new blogger, particularly one that isn’t going to be good or add anything to the conversation (like a different perspective).
  2. I need a schedule with variety so that I have motivation to post. I think variety of topics will also help me be motivated.
  3. There are a lot of things that I read online that I want to comment on or share my own thoughts.

Given all of that I have come up with semi-cheesy names for six posts a week.

Schedule of Daily Posts

  • Set Up Sunday – This post will focus on what I did the previous week workout wise; what worked/felt good/felt bad/didn’t happen; and what I plan to do for the upcoming week. I will try to focus on the reasoning for my exercises in addition to the actual schedule. I’m in the process of reading The Triathlete’s Training Bible and plan to base my work out schedule on the book beginning after the half marathon on October 17.
  • Menu Monday – What’s on my menu this week (this means I will have to have a menu each week!) and what recipes from the past week do I recommend.
  • Tune Up Tuesday – This is the day I’m looking forward to the most. It will essentially be a series of Biking/Swimming/Running 101. I am going to starting with Biking 101 because I have learned SOOOO much over the course of the past year that I want to share. I will probably focus on the details of gear for biking. I am in no way qualified to talk about Swimming 101 yet but it’s an area I need to focus on in the “off-season” so I will hopefully learn a lot to share.
  • Web Wednesday – Focus will be on what’s going on out there in the blogosphere that I think is good/bad/otherwise. I read a lot of blogs and my google reader is about 90% focused on health/food/exercise bloggers so I see a lot of stuff that I’d like to share.
  • Thorough Thursday – A discussion of the latest and greatest in fitness, exercise, or dieting science. Might be a rant but hopefully will add to the discussion about the topic at hand.
  • Fit Friday – Updates on my fitness and weight loss goals. What’s working. What’s not. What I’m going to do/change going forward. Will also likely be my weigh in dates. I need to get focused on this last 20-30 pounds. I can’t just expect for it to go away.

I am also toying with putting three quick categories at the end entitled: eat, run, litigate (appropriate methinks) so that may show up.

What do you think? Do you like this schedule? Do you think I should make any changes? What do you think the blog world needs more of?
