Monday, bloody Monday

I don’t think those are the actual song lyrics…but it’s my blog so I can say whatever I want :)

Mondays are a ginormous fail in my opinion. Is there a point in life when you start enjoying Mondays? If so let me know when that is and I’ll just try to skip ahead. (I really love my life and don’t want to skip ahead of anything, but I still hate hate hate Mondays).

The good (er…I suppose it’s bad too) news is that when Monday comes it means I’m back on the calorie counting bandwagon. Although I indicated in my Sunday post that I was terrible this weekend, I really was only terrible at one meal. I shouldn’t be so hard on myself — but I also shouldn’t have slipped this much. Despite saying that, I know that it’s bound to happen again this weekend. M and I are going with a bunch of our friends to a Cubs game this Saturday. It’s not just any Cubs game though — it’s one that we’re going to view from a rooftop, which for those unfamiliar means we paid for unlimited booze and food. And we paid a lot. I feel like it’ll be a waste not to indulge a bit. Quite the dilemma.

Sorry about that little rant. I had a good Monday food and exercise wise. Food recap at the bottom. M and I hit the gym up at about 8:30 last night. On Sunday I checked out Olympian Janet Evan’s book Total Swimming because I know that swimming is my big weakness in the triathlon right now. I’m also secretly hoping that some day I can get a sweet set of medals…

A girl can dream right? I set out with the intentions of doing one of her 1500 yard work outs. I only did 1000 yards — 300 yard warm up (6×50 free, 15 second breaks), 400 yards of drills (25 of a drill and 25 free thinking about drill, repeat 8 times with 7 different drills – I did the last one twice), and then it was supposed to be 2×50, 2×100, and 3×150, and then a 200 cool down. I stopped after the 100s. I’m hoping to build up to do her 1500 and 2000 yard work outs. I thought I would be able to handle them but those drills really kicked my butt (I’m sure the not swimming for a week didn’t help).

Did a slow 1.5 mile jog on the treadmill after the swim. Nothing crazy but wanted to do more cardio than I had done in the pool. The problem for me in the pool is that when I get tired/over it I have a hard time breathing (mechanically, not physically) which makes swimming especially difficult. But just because I’m done with the swimming doesn’t mean I’m done with the work out.

A bit high on the calorie front but no big deal.
