Let's just forget about the last two days

Well I suppose I’m not going to forget them, but I’m certainly going to do everything I can to put it behind me. The first thing fail of the two days was at kickball. I struggled the whole day with the back issue but it wasn’t intolerable. I got to kickball and was concerned about my back. Boy was I concerned about the wrong thing. My back was the least of my problems. Recall that on Tuesday, I biked a bit over ten miles and then a half hour later ran a couple of miles. Well, I didn’t think anything about this until I got to kickball.

A little more background…I play kickball in a co-ed league. There are certain rules about how many guys can bat between girls (2 guys and then a girl, repeat) and fielding. Well, we had 7 guys and 1 girl on Wednesday….which means I was batting every third person. We also only had 8 fielders (normal teams have 11).

So we were up to bat first and I take my first couple of steps after I kick the ball and realize that my quadriceps were burning and tighter than they have ever been. I can only assume it was because of the workout on Tuesday but holy smokes it was rough. I attempted to stretch the quads about between my turns up to bat and fielding, but nothing helped.

After kickball M and I went to Chick-Fil-A, where I was not good (I had an original sandwich and fries). But today, food wise was worse, much worse. First, I had a bagel for breakfast (damn free bagels) which was after I ate a Luna bar on the way to work. At lunch, I had a grilled cheese sandwich and chips (that’s really healthy…not) and then M and I had pizza for dinner. Suffice it to say, I have not eaten well.

The victory in all of this is that instead of thinking about how terrible I have eaten, I put it all aside tonight and went for a 5 mile run at the guy at 10:30 at night. Normally I don’t go this late because I’m in bed, but since I don’t work tomorrow I can stay up later tonight (although we do have to get up in the a.m. a bit early to go canoeing! which will be so fun). The run was okay. My lower back is really hurting today (I think my body is falling apart….really I don’t think so; I think I’m just having a bad week). Hopefully, I’m back to 100% ASAP.
