I feel like a broken record on here because my blog generally follows the following pattern:
- Discuss either (a) not being able to wake up for morning work out or (b) my morning workout
- Touch on why I didn’t or did eat well for the day
- Talk about (a) afternoon workout or (b) what M and I did that evening
- Food recap
Even though I know I’ve been repetitive I can’t think of anything creative enough to change the format. So as you may be able to guess, I didn’t manage to wake up for my morning work out, which I thought would result in no work out at all because I thought I’d have to work late. However, I pulled a superman-esque move today at work and was able to leave at my normal time.
When I got home, M and I ate a quick dinner and then M told me he didn’t want to go to the gym and suggested that I bike if I wanted to get some exercise in. I decided that was a great idea but waited on the bike ride to digest my dinner. I left with about 40 minutes of daylight left. I was about 2.5 miles into my ride when I felt it start to sprinkle and realized I had no idea what the fastest way home was (i.e., turning around or going forward), so I went forward (and hoped the rain would stop). The rain didn’t stop though and I picked the long way home. I rode 5.56 miles in 22:22 minutes (14.9 mph). My first thought on the workout was how smooth a road bike is. I don’t think I realized how different a ride is on a road bike compared to a mountain bike/cheap bike. My second big thought was “dang I’m going fast.” According to the trusty Garmin, I peaked at 20.5 mph. After I made it out of the rain, I did Level I of Shred.
Food for the Day:
- B: oatmeal and almonds
- L: small southwest chicken caesar salad and roasted tomato soup from Paradise Cafe…and probably the chocolate chip cookie that came with it
- D: homemade Gobbler panini
Um, I’m soooo jealous of your bike. Maybe with my new gig, I can joing you in bike owning extravaganza soon.
