Day 39 (1/8/09)

I have been craving sugar all day today. I read a blog that craving sugar means that the majority of your previous meal was carbohydrates. I can’t find the blog for the life of me, because clearly it should go in the blog roll today, but I swear I just read that today! I try to not eat all carbs by mixing in the protein and fat, but apparently today I’ve had too many carbs. Or maybe too much soda (did you know diet soda can cause you to crave sugar?). I doubt it’s the latter, but not because I doubt that diet soda causes that, but because I drink diet soda every day a lot, and I don’t normally have the sugar cravings I have had today.

In other news, I went to the gym this evening and had a great run that made me realize something: I just don’t push myself when I run. Today I ran 4 miles in 40 minutes (5 minute w-u & c-d). After the warm-up, I set the treadmill for 6.0 mph and didn’t stop until I did 4 miles. I have never done 4 miles in 40 minutes. And it’s probably mostly because I’ve never really tried. I’m going to start trying to run faster and further than I think I can. During my upper body lifting today, I changed my shoulder, bicep and tricep exercises to the ones on the Free Motion machines instead of doing the ones my trainer had given me involving a resistance band. I didn’t like the resistance band work outs because they were awkward and I think a bit inconsistent, so I wanted a change. Doing the exercises on the machine felt like a much better work out and I like the measuring aspect of it much more.

Food for the day:
B: Breakfast sandwich (sausage, cheese, muffin, egg) [300]

L: Chicken carbonara lean cuisine [310]

S: one fun-sized bag of peanut M&Ms and 2 fun-sized Twix. :( This is another tale of why I think people in offices gain weight [150

D1: Pre-workout dinner, Turkey and 2% cheese panini with some light mayo [235]

D2: Chicken fettuccine [270] & piece of toast with spray butter and garlic salt [60]. Adding this piece of toast to the dinner really made it better than the frozen dinner alone would have been, since this was my second frozen dinner of the day. Frozen fruit bar [40]

Total calories: 1365 calories

Best of Fast Food Detox’s Blog Roll:

  • HOLY SMOKES. I haven’t watched the episode yet, but that’s a lot of weight for one week!
  • Great advice about Marketing a new blog. I’m going to try to start following that. I’ve already started the commenting process. I read lots of blogs but I never comment and that’s just silly.
